Meridian 3.0 for MIDI + OPL4
Meridian: a MIDI editor for MSX computers to play and edit SMFs (Standard MIDI files). Because of the support of SMF, there is a lot of MIDI music available on the Internet. Meridian also offers the possibility to create your own MIDI drivers, because of the large variety of MIDI devices.
Because a lot of MSX users don't have any MIDI equipment, while they do have a Moonsound, Meridian supports this soundchip as well. Both the FM part (OPL3) and the wavetable part (OPL4) are integrated.

Go to Opl4 program editor and check it out!! Probably
you've never known before the Opl4 could produce such fat sounds,
combining FM and PCM tones.
Hint: Go to bank 2 of the Opl4 program editor. This bank contains in the
first 10 programs very cool sound. If you wanna have some more astonishing
sounds, just create your own. It's not that hard.

MIDI IN support in Opl4 tone, program and drum editors. This is a very nice feature, because you can hear immediately how a new or modified tone will sound. In the Opl4 program editor, the Opl4 can be used as a MIDI soundmodule. |

Frequency calculation for FM and PCM have been improved, only one frequencytable is used now. Because of this, the F+ option in the Opl4 program and drum editor doesn´t have any function now, so it has been removed from the editors and replaced with a mute function. This is very useful when editting Opl4 programs and you are focussing on one separate tone in an Opl4 program. |
